Naturalisation during Covid and 90 day out of country

Post by suryapradeepvarma » Tue Jun 15, 2021 11:01 am

Hi All,

Please see my current situation and any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping some of you might already experienced the same as me and want to know any facts associated with naturalisation process during the covid times.

Timelines related to mine and my wife's situation:

ILR for Main applicant received : Feb 2019
ILR for dependant applicant received : Feb 2020

Both applicants Out of country (due to Covid travel restrictions) : 5th Mar 2020 to 31st August 2020 (more than 90 days)

Since this was more than 90 days out of the country, we had waited until now so the criteria for living in the country for a year on ILR is met considering the allowed 90 days out of country.

Can we now apply for our naturalisation or wait until the 31st August 2021 to have the completed the 1 year living in the UK.

Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,

Did anyone face a similar situation?, from what I had seen while filling the application, one should not be out side the country for more than 90 days in the last 12 months.

I got ILR 1/2020 and went on holiday in 3/2020 and got stuck outside the Uk until end of 6/2020. I then went on holiday for 10 days in 8/2020. I was out of the Uk for 117 days in last year before applying for naturalisation.

I applied in 1/2021 and got my approval in 2/2021. I claimed I was out of the country and unable to return due to COVID pandemic and flight cancellations.

I told them I am able to provide prof which I did have if they needed it.
