Proof of funds to support Tier 4 dependents

Post by Zenzo_1 » Mon Jun 21, 2021 2:14 pm

Dear all,

My apologies to the moderators if this has already been addressed in a different thread.

Please kindly help me with the following questions:

Will there be a problem with my Tier 4 visa application if my proof of funds to support my dependents is in my previous UK account when I am applying from outside the UK?

Is proof of funds expected from my country of application or is it ok for me to show proof of funds using a UK account that is in my name?

Thank you for your responses.

Kind regards.

there is no rule about where the funds must be held, they can be either in the UK or abroad or in both locations

The only accounts you cannot use are listed in paragraph FIN 2.1 of Appendix Finance.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration ... ix-finance

FIN 2.1. Funds will not be considered if they are held in a financial institution where any of the following apply:
(a) the decision maker is unable to make satisfactory verification checks; or
(b) the financial institution is not regulated by the appropriate regulatory body for the country in which that institution is operating; or
(c) the financial institution does not use electronic record keeping.

Thank you so much - I will refer to the quoted rules. This is really helpful.

Just one last question - what does point 'a' mean? Are they verifying that the funds exist or that the funds holder is allowed to hold funds in that country?

They can conduct any sort of verification they consider relevant to the application.

This can include that the funds exist, and possibly that the funds holder is allowed to hold funds in that country, etc. It doesn't matter which country you have the money as long as the financial institution complies with those conditions.
