Marriage tax credit

Post by Mallu_Desi » Tue Jul 20, 2021 3:28 pm

Dear all,

Hope all is well.

I used this forum for guidance regarding my wife's dependant visa. So many amazing people helped me regarding my queries and concerns.

I hope I am posting this question in relevant section of the forum.

I got married on November 2019 and my wife came to UK on February 2021 on dependant visa (I am British citizen). She hasn't got recourse to any public funds. She is not working at the moment.

1. Can she applies for marriage tax allowance? Does it consider as public funds? Is it going to affect visa extension or ILR application?

2. Can she backdate the claim to 2019 (the year we got married) or 2021 (when she came to the country)?

Many thanks

Its not public funds.

https://www.gov.uk/marriage-allowance/how-to-apply
Changes to your Personal Allowances will be backdated to the start of the tax year (6 April) if your application is successful.

Hi! To be honest, I can't imagine myself unemployed. It's very difficult just to do housework and children.

Hi! To be honest, I can't imagine myself unemployed. It's very difficult just to do housework and children. And it's nice to earn money. Although taxes are a separate story. Unpleasant situations are constantly happening to them. Previously, I often made mistakes when filling out tax forms and had to solve all these problems for a long time. Then I began to record all my financial transactions, which I advise you to do. When filling out tax forms, I use xxxxxxx service and now I have no problems.
