British citizenship for child born in UK who has Indian passport.

Post by srinivasradaram » Thu May 19, 2022 8:48 pm

Hi All,

My youngest was born in 2015 in UK while I was on Tier 2 ICT. We had to go back in 2016. We came back in 2017 on Tier 2 General and my ILR application is successful.

I want to check if my youngest who was born in UK and has Indian passport can apply for citizenship or should she go through the ILR process.

Apologies if my question was not clear. Any help would be great.

-Srini.

Apply for citizenship on form mn1, ilr not required.

Note the child will lose their Indian citizenship.

Thanks a lot for the very quick response.

Does it mean I don't need to apply IRL for my youngest when I apply for my wife and my eldest when they are eligible (they will be eligible in 3-4 months from now).

Your inputs would help me a lot.

As already stated by CR001, children born in the UK are not required to have ILR first. It can't be clearer than that.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

Sorry to keep asking, as long as child born in UK with Indian passport can directly apply for UK citizenship I wont ask again.

Sorry.

This has been advised twice now. The passport the child holds is completely irrelevant for registering as British.
