UK, ILR expiring in 10 Years

Post by ujjawaltech101 » Thu Aug 04, 2022 11:28 am

I got my ILR in 2014.
It says its expiry date as 2024

What will happen after 2024?

If your BRP expires on 31 December 2024
You do not need to tell UKVI if your BRP expires on 31 December 2024 but your immigration status (for example, your visa) allows you to stay longer.

You will not need a BRP from 1 January 2025. You’ll be able to prove your immigration status online, without a BRP.

UKVI will update their information on how to prove your immigration status in early 2024. You do not need to do anything and your immigration status will not be affected.

Thank you

On My Residence Permit, under Remarks section it is written Indefinite Leave to Remain
On Valid until category it says 07-05-2024

So as it expires before 31 December 2024, what are the steps for me?

Thank you

The card is renewed if you don't apply for citizenship.

The brp cards expire in the same ay as drivers licence and has to be renewed.

As you have been advised ILR status is permanent and it does NOT expire, only the card does. So you need to get a new card with a new expiry date (just like your get a new bank card)

Notes:
- All BRP cards ever issued by the UKVI are only valid until the end of 2024. BRPs are being totally phased out in 2024 (replaced by digital proof of status)
- Also note that currently, BRP replacemnet can take up to 6 months. You can apply for a replacement now
Advice is given based on my personal research and experience only. Do NOT contact me via private message for immigration advice
