No. See thisHello,
My cousin is here in the UK on a Holiday Workmaker Visa, he will be completing 12 months in December, and has 12 months left.
As per the new tier system introduced, I am aware that this Visa no longer exists.
My question is:
Can he still convert or switch to a work permit from within the UK?
To have a taste of so called "good life" outside India, he has to make the hotel reservation being in India.Bottom line is, he has had a taste of the "good life" outside India, and now would like to settle in the UK, Canada or Australia and make a good life for himself.
Thank you for your reply Vinny.vinny wrote:Unfortunately,Jaspal wrote:Can he still convert or switch to a work permit from within the UK?Work permits - Bulgarian and Romanian nationals only wrote:The work permit arrangements closed on 26 November 2008. To be equally frank, the comments you don't appreciate, are making a point you want to pretend doesn't exist. The purpose of WHV is to be on holiday and earn money to cover your costs not to work and possibly settle which is why you have to go home and reapply for a different visa. It was changed because people were exploiting it just like your cousin is trying to do so deal with the comments because frankly, it is pretty much represents the HO's sentiment. It would behoove you to be sensitive to the HO's position so that you or your cousin can better understand immigration policy in your future dealings with the HO.Jaspal wrote:To be frank, I am only here to seek unprejudiced impartial advice, which Vinny has provided for me without resorting to any petty personal comments or dim-witted sarcastic remarks, which in all truth does not help anybody, but only reflects your level of intelligence.

Switching to work permits was stopped years ago, apart from people filling posts on the shortage occupation list. Check out the Tier 2 rules on switching, and WHM is not listed as one of the categories that people can switch from. Can he still convert or switch to a work permit from within the UK?
This is up to the Canadians and AustraliansAlso, would he need to return to India if he were to apply for a Skilled Worker Visa in Canada or Australia?
I do not have issues, I enjoy sending immigration abusers, overstayers, international criminals and failed asylum seekers home. I get up every day and look forward to doing my role effectively and efficiently.Jaspal wrote:To be frank, I am only here to seek unprejudiced impartial advice, which Vinny has provided for me without resorting to any petty personal comments or dim-witted sarcastic remarks, which in all truth does not help anybody, but only reflects your level of intelligence.

Well after reading this, it is very clear to me, you obviously have insecurities and deep rooted subconscious issues, especially if this is the way you think. The only objective you have achieved is you have shown yourself to be a very judgemental character possessing a strange illogical skewed tunnel vision and a disturbing frame of mind which actually believes it is right. Again, I believe you need to seek help immediately.I do not have issues, I enjoy sending immigration abusers, overstayers, international criminals and failed asylum seekers home. I equally enjoy ripping the absolute urine out of the people who believe their cousins, friends and any one remotely related can get to stay on in the UK just because they came on a visit visa or worse still a WHM visa.
Well at least you can tell your relative he successfully contributed to the very reason why the WHM visa route was withdrawn. Just think of the thousands back home that will not be able to clean the dishes, mop the Spam and wait on the people they would so like to be.
I bet the quality of the cleaning in my local curry house is going to suffer ho hum
I don't really have to explain myself or my cousin’s position. But I however will, because not everybody is a "leech".To be equally frank, the comments you don't appreciate, are making a point you want to pretend doesn't exist. 90% of WHM undertook low or no skilled employment. Which is fine as it is a means of surviving in the UK regardless of country of origin.PaperPusher wrote:Frontier Mole
JUST because someone is on WHM from India, doesn't always mean that they are doing dishes or other unskilled work. What about all the saffers, kiwis and ausies doing bar work, and labouring in London. Perhaps all the WHM countries have all in their own way contributed to WHM changing, overstayers, WIBs and so on.
I am going to miss the ZAF hairdressers.
