Folks,

Congrats on u r Visas!!!.Its been a week, Since i have been in london. My impression is the market is very dull. dont go by many job advt that u find in web pages, most of them are untrue. Unless you have sufficient funds to survive this long, bitter and de-motivating wait it will be very hard just to survive here.

Apply,Apply no serious reply, is my story so far....

I do believe this is true to a certain extent.. Not to demoralise anyone but most companies are asking to come personally to UK and attend the interview, no telephonic interviews are considered, they are very strict and really the job market is not as bright as it used to be

We can only hope for better results.... It is a bit of a catch22 situation really...

but hey raghups, a week is really a short time to get demotivated... I would advice you to atleast give a month or a little more than that to assess the situation

Raghu thanks for updating us about the Job senario.

Me too saw many job opening on Uk Job sites and started applying with a hope. But no appropriate response yet so I think we should spend much more time and should apply in multiple sites...and keep trying.

I think to conclude in a week time will be wrong. As per the reply from one of our friend you must give little more time atleast a month or so....and definately something will click out.

Wish you the best luck.

Keep updating us with the updates from UK

I have my b-in-law a UK citizen with a job there and I can stay with them for as long as I wish.

But I have a family here (wife & kid) with wife working but I have EMIs to support which can't be supported by my wife alone.

I have an MBA from IIM and BE from NIT with 15+ years of experience with telecom operators in India only.

How many months of EMI reserve money should I keep?

Guys, whoever are planning to come down, please be ready to wait and get demoralized for, maybe months at a time. It is going to be very difficult to land jobs as of now. It doesn't matter whether you are from premier institutions or well known companies. Many of my IIM Calcutta friends got laid off. So you can think about how bad the market is. And experience would not help either, many people who have been working in UK for long times have also been laid off. Sorry for demoralizing everybody, but such is the ground situation. You come here at your own peril.

Anyone has thought of job search strategy in this difficult time? Please share it with us.

Anyone with Tier-1 and looking for jobs in UK while still at India? Please share if you are getting positive responses?

All those who has gone to UK in last 3 months and had been able to secure a job (contract/perm), please share their success stories and job search strategies.

Hi guys

Im in UK and Im working in the IT sector.

Sorry if this demoralising for many. But I would like to put the facts straight.

The UK job market is hit very badly on all sectors.

Some say companies would start recruitment after March (after the first quater)

Saying that Im sure the situation will improve. So my advise is to delay your trip a little bit as it would be expensive to live here without a job.

Below are the job sites which may help,

www.jobserve.co.uk
www.reed.co.uk
www.jobsite.co.uk
www.monster.co.uk

Good Luck guys

Hope this helps!!!
