ILR Application is changing from 6th April 2009?

Post by goodmans » Wed Mar 18, 2009 10:11 am

HI,

When I rang HomeOffice today morning to book an appointment for premier service, They said they are fully booked till April 29th in all nearest offices and they got information that application will change from April 6th (changes might be application fee). But just wondering if there are any more changes?

Regards,
G

Believe it relates to the increase in fees, but we won't know until the forms are published.
As a matter of interest...did the 'fully booked' include Sheffield?

Yes, it would be the increase of fees in all aspects of immigration, ILR, Naturalization, other fees etc. Effective 6 April 2009.

So the current choice appears to be :-
  • submit the ILR application by post prior to 6 April ..... cost £750, or
  • submit the application at a PEO after 5 April .... cost £1020 (plus £50 extra for every dependent included on the application form)
Given the delay in getting a PEO appointment we are being told about, if someone is time-qualified to apply prior to 6 April, why not pop the application in the post? Yes I know that it might take 3 months to be processed, but that is only a couple of months more than when a PEO might be.

Did you make an enquiry about change in ILR premium service for Tier 1 holders ? At the moment Tier 1 holders are not allowed to apply for permium service.

News from 02 March 2009 "Public enquiry offices open their doors to more points-based system applications" says that:
"From 6 April 2009, you will be able to use the 'premium service' at any of our five public enquiry offices if you are applying under the following categories of the points-based system: Tier 1 (General), ..."

So, it is for those who apply for FLR under Tier 1/2.

Unfortunately, by the moment, nothing has been changed, who apply for ILR as Tier 1:

Guide SET(O) (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... to1108.pdf):
"The premium service is not available for applications as a businessperson, innovator, investor, self-employed lawyer, Tier 1 migrant or Tier 2 migrant"

Form SET(O) (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... et1108.pdf):
"Applications as a businessperson, innovator, investor, self-employed lawyer, Tier 1 migrant or Tier 2 migrant may not be made in person but, as well as being made by post, they may be delivered by courier - see the guidance notes."

When i applied for my ILR there was change in the application form. So i had to use new version of application form. There was no change in fees. I am not sure that new application necessarily means fee hike.

Mishra, a fee rise has been confirmed by the BIA from 6th April.

Government don't seem to realise that people wanting to go through the system legally can't always afford these kinds of prices. :?

I was just thinking the same thing. The current one on the BIA site is the Set(M) Version 11/2008 - from 27th November 2008. Are we expecting a new one in April?
