British Citizenship form AN (Refrees)

Post by racingfire » Mon Aug 17, 2009 9:15 pm

HI,

Can someone help to clear the point of refrees age in AN form.

My friend is going to apply for naturalisation, he had 2 refrees.

(1) British citizen work for NHS, age 22 yrs (will be as professional refree)

(2) British citizen age 25 yrs ( will be as normal refree)

Are these refrees are acceptable , specially the professional refree because he has doubtful about age 22 yrs.

Any professional advice will be appreciated

Am not sure if they would accept that referee. If he/she was a doctor, i think the age wouldnt have mattered. The guidelines gives a list of Professions that can be used as referee.

Hi Papafaith,

I called Home Office 2 weeks before and they said NHS official are acceptable for refrees, but i forget to ask about the minimum age requirement for refrees.

I am just worried about the age factor, that refrees under 25 are acceptable or not.

Thanks

No doubt correct, but a receptionist is not an official.

Or put it this way, using your definition, almost anyone could be called an official. Is a cleaner at the hospital, doing a very important job, an official? Of course not!

John,
only crown employees are civil servants so what about local government employees like the council etc?
A civil servant or public servant is a civilian public sector employee working for a government department or agency. The term explicitly excludes the armed services, although civilian officials will work at "Defence Ministry" headquarters. The term always includes the (sovereign) state's employees; whether regional, or sub-state, or even municipal employees are called "civil servants" varies from country to country. In the United Kingdom, for instance, only Crown employees are civil servants, county or city employees are not.

I can't believe medical doctors are not included in this list! Dentists are there though. And to think 'Christian Science practitioner' - whatever that means - and Chiropodist, Driving instructor et al are included, but not doctors, makes me wonder if this list is correct at all.

I would have thought there was a correspondence between those who are qualified to be referees for passport applications vis-a-vis naturalisatiion applications.

Her Majesty's Civil Service says: "As such, the Civil Service does not include government ministers (who are politically appointed), members of the British Armed Forces, police officers, local government officials, members of a National Health Service, or staff of the Royal Household."
