HSMP Extension age issue

Post by aniluk76 » Sat Jan 09, 2010 11:54 am

Hi Friends.
I am a newbie here. I am a HSMP visa holder planning to go for extension.
Here is the points for age:

If you are under 34 years of age you will gain points based on age.
29 or under - 20 points
30 or 31 - 10 points
32 or 33 - 5 points
34 or older - 0 points

My date of birth is 15/06/1976(dd/mm/yyyy) and my visa ends on April 2010. Now i have completed 33 years and running on 34th year. Am I eligible to get 5 points? Its confusing please help.
Thanks in advance.

Amount of Points will depend on Table 4 - Age at date (34G) of application.

Hi Vinny many thanks for your answer. My question sounds stupid. The links didnt help. My confusion is 32-33 years we get 5 points and 34 years and later no points. By this time i am the age of 33 years and 7 months old. Am I elegible to get 5 points ?

I have applied intial hsmp through a consultant and not remembered how they did. I have discussed with couple of my friends.. few of them said yes and few of them said no. My confusion is 34 years of age means 34years should be completed or 34 th year running?. I am happy to receive reply from chetanojha saying I am eligible for 5 points

Years completed is considered as actual age. In your case you are 33 years old and you should be able to claim 5 points. This is just in my opinion.

Your age will be 33 until 15th Jan, if your Birth day is on 15th Jan 1976. So if you apply before 15th Jan, then you will be 33, else 34 and no points!

count the completed age at time of application , not running age.
so you will get 5 points as of now.
