Its exactly the same in Polish. Also, Ulica is pronounced as Ulitsa and not as 'Ulisa' or 'Ulika'.

They are quite similar languages even though I love the way Russian is written.

After being forced to go to Russian school as a kid, I hate the way it sounds, the writting, etc...I prefer french

Did French at school, hated it - too hard. Done Russian since and now German, French is sooo easy now! Must be if the French can learn it.....

French is just some bloke shrugging his shoulders going 'oh-hee-haw-hee-haw-hehaw...' and stinking of onions.

I think russian is more expressive, more so than English even, hence the great literary history from such a relatively crap country.
