Employer reference

The guy working under me a year ago requested me if he could pass my reference. His potential employer could communicate to me about him.

What question should I expect from his potential employer? Can they ask question about his personal character? OR they have a right to ask question on how his performance over here was? particular skills potential? etc...!!!

I want to be prepared for what can I tell his potential employer AND what I cannot.

usually they want to confirm that the person did actually work for/with you.
they'll confirm for how long too.
-generally all references give this information.



then if you want,
they'll ask about what type of employee he was.

like, was he always on time, did he do a good job, if there's anything you would not recommend him to do... etc..


generally it's a quick phone call to confirm the person isnt lying on their applications.
