New Rules Work Permit to Tier 1 to Permanent Residence

Post by aarti211 » Tue Apr 06, 2010 7:04 pm

Hi,

I came to the UK with a company sponsored work permit in 2006.
I was on HSMP and now on Tier 1 since 2007.

Am I eligible for PR/settlement after completion of 5 years?

Yes you are eligible for ILR as of today..(as long as the current rules are applied to you)

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.

Can I then apply in 2011(starting 2006/WP) or 2012(starting 2007/HSMP)

The work permit counts as contribution to the 5 years for ILR.

Provided the rules remain in July 2011. If you apply prior to changes in July you will get ILR else you shall receive probationary citizenship.

Provided rules remain constant is a big clause

As UKBA is planning to change PR concept dramatically by Mid 2011.
But it depends on the upcoming election results also
