When to apply for Tier 1 Extention

Hi All,
I currently hold a Tier 1 Visa which expires on Aug 2011. I want to apply for my daughter's visa who was born here 6 months before.

I wonder instead of applying for her visa now and then apply for my extension next year, can i apply for my extension now as its less than one year for my visa expiry.

Has anyone come across this situation and applied for extension.

I'm planning to go to India with my family in this Nov. If I don’t get dates for my daughter's visa application, can i apply for her visa from India. What is the normal timescale in India.
