ILR to British Citizenship while claiming benefits.

Post by vgvirgo » Mon Oct 11, 2010 6:32 pm

Hi,

I got ILR 15 days back...Now Can I start claiming Child benefits without affecting British citizenship...application next year in 2011.

In anyway does it (claiming benefits) affect British Citizenship?
and Can I claim Child benefit in my Wife name?

Question to all: Has anyone got British citizenship while claiming benefits on ILR?

Thank you for reply and reading message in advance.

Regards
Vikas

Claiming Child Benefit should not affect your chances for British citizenship, considering that the vast majority of parents in the UK receive Child Benefit.

Child Benefit is normally paid to the mother in any event.

In order - yes, no, yes.

Child benefit is normally paid to the mother, but doesn't have to be.

You should also see if you're entitled to WTC and CTC.
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.
