Recieving my passport tomorrow?

I phoned up the passport service and they told me that i will be recieving it tommorow.
Now because there are two passports. Can someone tell me if both people have to sign?
One of us wont be at home tomorrow. Would there be an issue?

no, just makesure that the person who is there have an id of the other person who is not.
