Reference for British Citizenship

Post by Hope2007 » Wed Jan 05, 2011 9:39 pm

Hi guys,
There Is s section for Reference British Citizenship application where 2 referees need to sign
One ref can be any national and the other one must be British…
But is it mandatory to write their passport no if British?
Some people happy to give reference but not comfortable to give their passport no as it is personal …

someone could tell me please?
Thanks

No it is not mandatory, in the sense that UKBA will accept the referee writing something like "Passport number will be supplied on request", or something to that effect.

So as long as the British Citizen does indeed have a British passport, and does not object to UKBA phoning them to ask for that passport number, no reason for them to decline to act as a referee.
