passport re-issue

Hi all,

My passport expires in about 4 months time. I am currently working in the UK on Tier-1. I would like to get my passport re-issued through Consulate at Birmingham . In this respect, I wanted to submit my application by post. Do any of the members have any experiences whether it is safe to do so and what additional precautions I should take. Please advise

Why can't you take a day off and do it in person if you are so concerned about the safety of your passport.
