citizenship & travel abroad

Post by Hope2007 » Tue Mar 15, 2011 9:36 pm

Hi ,
My wife is going to citizenship ceremony in 7 day time and after which she will get the certificate …can she travel abroad before applying for British passport ?
I know, India don’t encourage to have 2 passports…but will it be a problem if she travel after getting the citizenship certificate but before applying for passport ?

Thanks

Don't travel without british passport. If you travel on indian passport after getting BC you will get fine when you went for your indian passport submission.

So i would suggest apply british passport and get india visa or OCI now a days they are giving 15 days time

Thanks gg234 for your reply

are you saying that they issue OCI cards in 15 days time...but the website says not to bother them for 12 weeks after surrendering the indian passport

Yes and i have collected my son OCI in 15days submitted on 1st march 2011 and collected on 15th march 2011.

You can see in this forum oci thread some of them also got the same time range so HCI seemes to be working hard now a days.

Now VFS is taking care of surrender passports
