Is it possible to get first British passport within 2 weeks!

I am due to travel on the 23rd April 2011 and sent off for my first British passport on the 6 April 2011 by check and send. As anybody who has recently (between March and April 11) applied for their passport received it within two weeks. Pls help [/b]

If this is your first British passport - you will have to attend a face-to-face interview and total wait will be up to 6 weeks...

I applied through check & send on 15th March and received the passport on 8th April. 10 days were there between the interview letter and date of interview. I did not try any other venue other than the one close to my place. If you try you can get some where early also.

Wunder's right. Even if you manage to get an early interview slot, you're looking at a minimum of 4-6 weeks from sending off your application to receiving your new passport. Without sounding too pessimistic, you've also applied at the time when a high number of passport applications are submitted before the Spring/Summer holidays start.

I got my naturalization certificate on 2nd april 2011 (private ceremony) and i applied for the British Passport through check and send service as i prepared my application ready with countersigned by my accountant.

Received passport interview letter on 7/04/2011 and called the interview appointment line there was no appointment available for 2 weeks in london and round london. I requested to check for appointment outside london for i was offered interview appointment in Peterborough 9/03/2011 (today) at 4:15 pm. (london kingcross to Peterborough = 45 mins £26 day return)

My passport interview was for 15 mins and i was told that they will do few more checks and i "might" receive the passport with in Thursday 14/04/2011.

Below is the time line in detail

02/04/2011 Received naturalization certificate through private ceremony

02/04/2011 Applied for passport through check and send service

07/04/2011 Received Letter from passport office to call and make appointment and also i received my documents back (naturalization certificate and old passport)

09/04/2011 Attended interview in peterborough ( although i stay in london)

I was told by the Interview staff that i will be receiving the British Passport with 14/04/2011

I applied by check and send on the 8th of march and had my interview on the 18th of march at Reading. They did have an earlier date, but I chose 18th as it was convenient. The interview lasted for 10 min max. The person said that I should get my passport within 4 days. He also said that if I did not receive my passport within the next 10 days I should contact them. I got my passport on Tuesday the 22nd- exactly after 4 days.

Thank you all for your helpful replies in particular-Teacake and Junior member! I have not started backing my bag as yet but you have gave me some confidents to begin too. I am prepared to attend an interview
Outside London at very short notice and collect my passport in person if possible?

i confirm that i got my british passport today 12/04/2011 @ 14:00 pm. Hope this information put you at ease to make ur travel plan.

2/04/2011 = Passport application Check and send
9/04/2011 = Attended interview at peterborough ( I stay in london)
12/04/2011 = Got british passport @ 14:00 pm

Aww, that's for the update and congrats! I've managed to book my interview at the same venue you had yours for tomorrow (14.4.11) so I am almost certain that I should receive it just in time for my holiday.

My passport interview was for 15 mins and i was told that they will do few more checks and i "might" receive the passport with in 10 days. I was received my passport on 13th with issued date is 9th April.2011.
