Yes, provided you can have someone sign your form and pictures on the day.

What happens in the ceremony?

Ok thanks.

You go in with your invitation letter, they check you ID and letter as well as you check if name is correct on certificate then the Lord mayor comes in to give certificate and you swear the oath. You get the certificate and that's it.

Do you take the oath one-by-one basis or is it a batch of people and repeat few words at a time by the mayor?

Batch, repeat from the little card given, read in unionism.

do you get to keep the original naturalisation certificate or does it go with the passport application?

you send it with your passport application and IPS send it back to you along with a letter asking you to book your interview.

No thats wrong and you can be caught out. You can sign the application only afterwards and it can be verified only after the ceremony.
Your referee should sign only after you have naturalised.

It should also be in the handwriting of the referee only

fill the application before hand and fill the certificate details on the day. You can submit the application on the same day If you can get the countersignatory sign your form & your photo. This is possible and I have done it myself

But if you do that make sure none of the dates on the form (including any entered by the countersignatories) pre-date the ceremony day.
