I think you need to contact the Dental Council from Norway, they can answer that.

Maybe you need to pass dental tests in order to practice there unless they accept your temporary registration from the UK.

Try to ask in Council of European Dentists http://www.eudental.eu/

I'm lucky to find someone in the same shoes. I have been recently offered to move to Norway and work in a dental clinic in Budapest. I wasn't aware of none of these details. Will contact EU Council of Dentists today. RSS Tool Chest

Jaffar,

I think your chances are very slim. You will need

1. a Norwegian residence permit
2. a Norwegian work permit, and
3. Norway to grant you a license as a dentist

All three steps are far from trivial, I think.
Your British ILR has no meaning in Norway; for now you still need a Schengenvisa even to visit the country as a tourist.
You have only temporary GDC registration in UK; that probably doesn't carry much weight abroad.
Like any medical practitioner you will have to communicate with patients, in their own language. For this you will need to speak and write Norwegian at least at B2 level, which you cannot achieve in a crash course of a few weeks.

Dear Jaffar

I am moving to Norway to work as a resident in a hospital. I am an Non EU citizen as well like yourself. I have worked in Norway before as a doctor.

First of all, since they have offered you a job as a dentist, presume you already have a registration with the appropriate professional body. If not, what kind of registration do you have with the GDC, UK? If you are registered with the GDC, I think your qualifications are recognised in Norway as well based on the fact that it is recognised in another EU country.

Secondly, regarding the visa - you will need a residence permit to work and stay in Norway. If you have a job offer, usually the visa is issued, which either you can do it in the UK or within Norway.

Language is an issue but you can speak to your future employer and they can help with teacher etc. There are quite a few foreign medic working in Norway and they learn Norwegian in Norway with help of employers.

Hope this helps.

Regards.
