processing times can vary depending on the number of applications pending. but you have nothing to worry as you have applied before your current permission of stay expires.

Re: acknowledgement letter and timescale

Post by bebe2011 » Sun Jan 08, 2012 5:33 pm

Yes you would receive an acknowledgement letter which would normally tell you that your application has been received and would be passed on to a caseworker....you can show this to your company as proof of the application as it will have a reference number on there

the letter states that if there is anything wrong with your application they will contact you and that you are not to contact them before then unless you want your documents back.

generally it takes somewhere between 1 to 4 weeks to get the acknowledgement letter. in my case it was 1 week....

timescales vary....for set (m) about 8 -12 weeks on average....set (o) is a different matter....about 10-16 weeks on average.....these are figures collated from a sticky in this forum.....you would find lots and lots of useful information and stories in there.....

Best of luck....

As far I know, if you start a new job then employer won't accept acknowledge letter however if you are already working then your employer may accept acknowledgement and let you continue with your job, a new employer is supposed to see a valid visa and permission to work before they can hire you.

The average waiting time for postal applications is 3 months but I think it depends how many applications they got to decide, be prepared to wait a wee bit longer as home office received lots of applications before BRP started as of 29 feb and due to easter holidays.
Good luck.

BRP is biometeric residence permit if u you applied before 29 feb then you wont get BRP.

ILR SET (o) application time

Post by dentex » Tue Jun 18, 2013 10:23 am

Application made 18 Dec 2012
Biometrics complete 8 Feb 2013
No response as of 18 June 2013

Request for return of docs 18 June 2013.

Hopeless bunch of process driven incompetents who don't quite grasp the concept of "customer" or "service" .

Anyway, here is my rant...http://wp.me/p337vS-bp

Well Emrah,

I'm quite well versed in the inefficient of the ILR application process by now so yes I know that 95% of cases are finalised in 6 months. But if you consider that there is absolutely no mechanism of finding out how much longer (than the 6 months) the process is going to take its pretty pointless continuing with the approach. Especially if you can't afford not to travel.
