Advantages of in person application

1) Same day decision
2) Any problems, they will let you know straightaway (for example, lack of one or two documents, inappropriate photos etc) and you can correct your mistakes
3)PEACE OF MIND - no waiting game

Postal:

Only advantage - cheaper
Main disadvantage - the waiting is a killer and some times you get a decision after your current leave expires (and if it is a refusal, then it becomes a nightmare)

I Agree with osteophytes on the advantages of going in person.

I also believe that if you think your case is straight forward then there is no need to go via in person as it will only cost you more.

For straight forward cases I would go by post.
Ofcourse very few of us have a straight forward case :-)[/quote]

Even for straight forward applications, I would suggest personal (especially if you don’t want months of sleepless nights and frustration).

Seriously..!! In person....please dont go through tourcherous route of postal application, its not worth of waiting 5-6 months and knowing nothing about ur process status.

I completely agree with osteophytes.

Postal applications take 4-6 months and your passports will be with HO. In case of any emergency or essential official trips, you are always in trouble.

So even if it is a straightforward case, I would suggest in-person application.

Without any shadow of doubt, PEO.

Even if you don't get appointment at your choice of PEO, go for a personal appointment at PEO further away from your home,
But at least you know you have better change of getting your result earlier than applying by post.
Better try not to save money there and regret later :( with the postal waiting game
