Uk Tourist visa for a Zimbabwean

Post by Sizzla » Thu Apr 03, 2008 12:47 pm

I am in a long-term relationship with a Zimbabwean male. We are planning a trip to the UK later this year. I am an Australian citizen but am eligible for a UK Ancestry visa, however I have some concerns about successfully obtaining a UK tourist visa for him.

In August 2002, The Financial Gazette in London stated “Mugabe's policies have meant that black Zimbabweans are now subjected to revenge beloved. ...Hundreds of black Zimbabweans visiting the UK are being returned home because the authorities here are saying: 'You are running away from Mugabe - go back and sort him out.â€

I can't advice on the tourist visa, but if he is your spouse then he can be given a dependent visa from your ancestry visa. When will you apply for an ancestry visa? Are you already in the UK? Are you aware that the ancestry visa might be removed in the not-so-distant future (changes are being planned)? You should apply for it as soon as you can.

Sizzla,
Sakura advise re ancestral visa is good and should be headed.

As far a revenge beloved on Zimbabean's applying for tourist visa, well I have many Zim friends in the UK .
This is the first I've ever heard and would take it with a pinch of salt.

Thanks Sakura & Siggi. Your responses but my mind at ease regarding issues of 'revenge beloved'.

I am currently applying for a UK Ancestry Visa here in Australia. I hope to have a decisions by the end of this month (fingers crossed!).

We are not married yet, but planning to do so at the end of this year. Once we are married, do you know whether my partner will be able to apply for a dependent visa from my UK Ancestry Visa in the UK, or will he be forced to return home?

Sizzla,
If you where married the depenant visa from your AV should no problem.

But I not sure how it would work if you receive your AV in Oz and your bf applies to be your dependant in Zim. or is he in Oz?

I think you need to establish where he would apply from.
