Transferring Immigration status document

Post by olujay25 » Wed Jul 13, 2011 3:34 pm

Hello everyone,
Just wants to find out if anyone has gone through the process of transferring their immigration status document unto a passport. My permanent resident card was issued as immigration status document after the UKBA lost my passport.
Please if anyone has gone through it please explain the process please and all supporting documents needed/used.
Also can anyone please advice if i should really transfer it or it makes no difference in using it to travel out and into UK if used with my new passport.
Thank you all.

Did not apply myself but this is what the UKBA website says (bottom of this page):
How to transfer your immigration status to your passport If you have an immigration status document, or your endorsement is in an old passport which has expired, you can apply for us to transfer your immigration status to your (new) passport. You must complete and send us a new application form with all the necessary supporting evidence. You will also need to send us your old passport containing the original vignette, or your immigration status document.
So it is basically a new application.

You should not have any problem getting in and out from the UK on the UK side. If you are not a visa national, then you should also have no problems with Stupid.
I understand that some EU countries don't accept it if you need a Schengen visa.

Yes. It is exactly the same as what would have been placed in your passport. Can't get more official than that. Just depends on how much trouble the airline might give you (might be none if they have seen these before in a passport). Worth having the phone number of the immigration office in Heathrow handy. You can always offer them to call and check if this is a legitimate document.

In the UK, just use the EU line at the border control.
