Transitional arrangement & ILR

Hi all,

this forum is contibuting a huge information and help to me.

I have some queries regarding my extension,if someone can shed light with there past experience or current similar situation..

I have 5 year old style work permit expiring in 17th April 2012. I am 9 days short to apply for ILR.( I came on 24th May 2007 so...)

A) If I apply for extension, I will only able to extend till 24th May 2012?

B) what documents will need to show? as I seen some post, they had not provide any doc. apart from COS under transtional arrangement?( I have not provide any info. regarding English Lang. test with my privious application?

Hi,

I am in a similar situation, but having a gap of four months. Will the extension be granted till 5 years or will be 2 years (as per the COS)

HO website is not very clear about this.

Hi Sup,

You are covered under the 3 months rule which states that the period from leave to enter and actual entry in UK is counted towards 5 year if it is not more than 3 months. Please search this forum and you'll find a link to the UKBA website for this rule.

Hi venksy26,

I'm afraid you'll have to go for extension of your stay by switching into Tier 2 General using Transitional arrangements(if you are on work permit) as your period is more thank 3 months and the extension would be for the duration to take your stay up to 5 years.
