Travel Document and green card

Need a bit of advice
My travel document expired a year ago I didnt renew it since I wasnt using it

My green card expiration date is in 5 month.

Question: If I send travel document for renewal now would they renew for me or I have to wait until I renew green card and then renew the travel document.

I assume that whatever the date left on your green card the department should give you travel document until that date.
