Travel expenses included in Gross Pay/Net Pay

Post by rahmatullah » Sat Apr 02, 2011 11:04 am

Hi,

This is with reference to Tier One extension and I am currently in UK.

In My payslip, the Gross pay includes travel expnese(which are not taxable) and taxable pay as well. Hence my net pay which is credited to my bank account has element of non-taxable pay in it. Therefore, i will not be able to claim the whole of net pay towards my points earning.

So, although my net pay shall match the figure on bank statment, it will not necessarily be the amount i can claim points for. For example if I had a credit of 3000 GBP. I may be able to clam points for 2900 GBP.

Has anyone had this issue earlier?

Would it be as simple as explaining in the cover letter and in the form of XL sheet, that although I have a net pay of 3000 i would only claim points for 2900...etc..

Thank You

Net pay isn't used for points, simply to verify that what's in your payslips matches up to what's in your bank.

You simply have to deduct the expenses from your GROSS pay and claim this for points. Maybe just make a note to make it clear that you are deducting expenses.

Whoever is reviewing your application will simply verify that the net amount on your payslips matches your bank statement (the figures in the bank statement are never used for points calculation, only for verification).

(And just make a note on the app form - don't go into too much detail - you're not in a unique situation).

Many thanks for the response. How best could i represent this in the document. Should i show it as a XL sheet. Obviously they would be keen to know how i came up with the figure of my earnings? Would you agree? For example If my net earning is 3000 and only 2900 is taxable then should i not have to clearly show that in some form XL sheet? Would you agree? Could you share any such XL template please. Many thanks.
