Travel from Ireland to UK

Post by spencerand » Fri Sep 28, 2007 2:37 pm

I am in the UK on a 6 month EEA family permit. This permit has since expired but my application for the 5 year permit is pending and I applied before my 6-month permit expired.

I have had trouble getting back into the UK from abroad, but I have heard that when travelling to the UK from Ireland there is no immigration control, just a passport check with no questions or stamps. Is this true?

If it is the Republic of Ireland that you mean, depends on whether you are a Visa national or not. If you are you will need one and while technically you do not need one if you are travelling with your partner, I wouldn't try my luch with ROI.

There is no checking if you are to travel to N. Ireland.
