Travel to India on ILR decision before receiving BRP card

Post by alav » Sun Apr 04, 2021 7:50 am

Hi...I have received email from home office regarding a successful decision on my ILR and the biometric card to be sent in 7 working days. However, I need to travel to India urgently. Can I travel outside UK without the ILR Biometric card and have some one post it to my India address and then later travel back to UK with the BRP sent to my India address.

Probably you can but incase the BRP is lost in post to India, you will have go through a nightmare. Also, approval email only is not a proof for immigration status. ILR BRP is. Worst case, approval email could be sent in error too.
Obviously, depending on the level of urgency, make your own decision but ideally wait till you have ILR BRP in hand to avoid any unforeseen circumstances.
