I have 1 simple question:
can I travel with my temporary GNIB card in europe (schengen zone and back to ireland)?

. i think u hv temp stamp 4 , the answer is no! u must hv re entry visa for ireland to come back , what u can get easily frm inis. and only 4 eu fam holders are visa free to eu if they travelling with their eu national family member or joining them there. they must hv proof of relationship. eg marriage cert. i hope it clarifies the question:

You need to check if you need an Irish re entry visa if so you will need one before you leave Irleand.

You then need to check if you need a visa to enter the other EU country and if so you should then get one. This will be difficult because you need 3 months left on you GNIB card from the date you travel to europe

THEN YOU CAN TRAVEL - with your irish re entry visa and your EU visa (schengen)

As I understood well, after expiring 6 months temporary GNIB card, and when I get new 5 years GNIB card I will be able to travel to europe without having have a visa?

Yes, with the stamp 4 EUFam you will be able to travel to most EU countries without a visa if you are traveling with your EU family member or if you can prove that your family member is already in the country and your are joining them. When you travel, make sure you carry a proof of relationship with the EU citizen (for example marriage certificate if you are married) as the GNIB card doesn't specify their name. If you are traveling on your own you will still need a regular visa for EU country (but no re-entry visa for Ireland).

Note that some rogue countries don't fully comply with the EU directive and still require some paperwork before you go even with your family member. The UK is the obvious one people are aware of, but there might be a few other small ones.

Also, if you go to the country your EU family member is a national of, I *think* they have the option to apply their local laws instead of EU law and deny you the right of entry without a visa (I seem to remember someone saying that about Germany some time ago), so it is better to double check with them before going - and most likely it wouldn't be a big deal as the national law would give you the option to get a visa easily and free of charge.

I was under the impression that one's non-EU spouse could travel to the UK with an EU4Fam card and proof of marriage (marriage cert) and that there was no need for the dreaded Family Permit. Any thoughts?
