Travel with Stamp 4 whithout Irish spouse

Hi all,

I have a Stamp 4 on my IRP since my husband is an Irish National. I am planning to travel to a few Schengen countries. I know I need to apply for a visa since I am a Philippine National. My question is if I am to apply for a visa based on Family of EU/EEA (free), am I allowed to travel without my Irish spouse? If not, is it better to just apply for the regular Schengen Tourist Visa in which I am going to pay? Any advice and suggestions is highly appreciated. Thank you so much!

You are allowed to travel without your Irish spouse if your IRP was "Stamp 4EUFAM"

If you want to apply for visa based on being married to an EU citizen you have to travel with/meet your spouse in the destination country.
** At the airport no one checks whether the EU citizen is really there on arrival or on the way ( western and southern EU).

Depending on the country there might be no immigration checks after you leave the airport.
**Some immigration checks in cities/towns/villages will just check the validity of the visa.

Of course visa for family members of EU citizens is better than a tourist visa and has less requirements.
