Travelling outside UK 4 weeks before VISA expiry

Hi,

My work permit visa expires on 02/01/2012. I will be applying for ILR on 22/12/2012.

I now need to attend a business/company meeting in Austria in first week of December 2011. I have the requisite schengan visa that allows me to travel to Europe. This expires in 10/01/2012.

Do you know if I am allowed to travel. I assume I will be able to leave the country. But will I get any issues when I come back to the UK? I will be back by 10/12/2011?

I've searched but most references seem to point to passport expiry.

I just don't want to be stopped or prevented from entering the UK due to the short time left on my Work Permit Visa.

Many thanks in advance for your advise.

If you're still employed under the work permit, then you should be okay (20A), subject to 321A.

Hi Vinny/moderators/members,

My Tier 1 Visa expires on 24th of May 2014. I need to make a quick and urgent trip to India on 8th May and will be back by 15th May.
I would apply for my visa extension on 18th May. Given this, kindly advise if I would be denied entry to the UK since I am travelling just before my visa expires. Also, I am an independent IT contractor working out of my company and am currently out of a contract and hunting for new roles. Will this affect my situation. Kindly advise.
