Travelling while passport being renewed

Post by RobinLondon » Sat May 20, 2006 9:08 pm

I need to renew my Canadian passport soon which has my UK ancestry (limited leave to remain) visa in it. I also hold a US passport. I may need to travel abroad whilst it's being renewed. If that's the case, can I enter the UK with my US passport if I bring some some of documentation attesting to the fact that I have a pre-existing limited leave? By documentation, I mean that I can bring my whole Home Office file (requested via the Data Protection Act) as well as an older, expired (1996-2001) Canadian passport that also has an expired UK ancestry visa in it.

What do you think? Do you reckon that they'll imagine that I'm trying to pull a fast one?
