Type B proof of address. Missing months

Post by aliwynn » Wed Feb 21, 2024 4:46 pm

Hi Everyone, do any of you know how crucial it is to have bills for each single month for the period of 5 years for type B?

I am using my broadband\TV bill and a couple of months are missing from 2019 & 2021 I tried to reach out to customer care but because it was so long ago they can’t help.

Would that be a reason they might refuse application?

Thanks for any help in advance

You don’t need 12 months worth - 3 consecutive months would be fine. The issue will be more that broadband isn’t on the list of approved bills, unless it includes fixed line phone line (landline). That has been a reason the proofs were rejected and the applicant has been asked to provide alternates.

You can use an affidavit to explain why you don’t have listed proof and supply the alternates you are trying with.

omg that would be awful. I share a house with my mam and dad and that’s the only bill that has my name on it! I have more for type A if needed but nothing else for type B. I didn’t realise it’s that specific.

In the affidavit just explain you live with your parents which is why you don’t have other bills and include proof of that - eg an electric bill in your parents name with them writing on it that you live with them as their son.

Living with your parents is one of the intended uses of an affidavit so you’ll be fine. It’s people who try to use the affidavit to explain illegal sublets, or could have been on utilities but just didn’t bother (‘my spouse does all that’) that can run into issues using the affidavit.

Thank you for your reply. I might do that as well so. Was hoping that broadband would be considered as utility, gutted to hear that it isn’t.

Broadband Bill type B proof of address.

Post by aliwynn » Thu Feb 22, 2024 5:15 am

It’s been mentioned to me here that broadband bill which I was hoping to use as “Utility Bill” for type B proof of address won’t be accepted as it can only be gas or electricity. Is that really the case? I don’t see why broadband it’s not a utility and gutted to hear that the only bill I have isn’t good enough.

I lived with my parents tho, could I potentially submit them anyway with an affidavit explaining that electricity bill has my parents on it and they needed that for themselves? I can also provide bank statements to support my application if that’s any good at all.
