Route-1 Exceptional Promise (Global Talent Visa?)

Post by Khalidt » Wed Aug 11, 2021 9:24 am

Hi,
I am applying for the Endorsement under route-1 and I believe I fulfil this criteria:
2. direct or lead:
b. an individual or team innovation project or programme of work

I work on a KTP*** project (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) as a Software Developer. The project is a fixed term 3 year contract.

I am leading this project by myself and my job description clearly mentions :
1. To play a leading role in the delivery of the KTP, working with all stakeholders to
ensure efficiency and success.

I am wondering if I will be eligible under this route (Exceptional Promise)?
if yes, during the application process do I need to mention I am applying under Route-1 (2-b Exceptional Promise) or I just need to mention I am applying under Route-1( Exceptional promise)?

***KTP is a national UK government funding programme. KTPs are designed to deliver an innovation project and bring about lasting, transformative change within a UK business. As a KTP Associate, they work full-time on the project, lasting between 12 months and 3 years, to lead and deliver the project development, with input from the organisation and the Knowledge Base teams. KTP recruits high-level graduates to apply their academic knowledge to deliver the business strategy and objectives of the KTP proposal, turning a key strategic innovation idea into reality.

Hi ,
I applied under the 'Exceptional Promise' and I was been successfully endorsed by RAE.

However, I must say being a KTP associate does not guarantee you to get the endorsement. It depends on the type of work you are undertaking which must meet the criteria set under this category.

Thank you

Do you think we can get endorsement through UKRI ? As the KTP is funded by Innovate UK.
I found this on their website:

"UKRI can endorse you if you (or your role) was named on the grant application. This can be as the principal investigator, co-investigator or other role at graduate level or above. For example, you could be a post-doctoral researcher, research assistant or specialist."

The KTP position seems to fullfill this condition. What do you think?

Being a KTP sponsored researcher alone does not entail an automatic qualification for the GTV under any of the researcher sub-routes.

Your full name must appear on a funded grant under which you are employed by the University or research institute e.g. if you are a post-doc, and you have been specifically named in the successfully funded grant, you do get the endorsement under the automatic fast-track process.

Of course, any researcher (KTP or otherwise) may apply for endorsement under the peer-review sub-route (which can be competitive and could take longer i.e. up to 8 weeks for the endorsement decision)

I'll try the UKRI Route , which is endorsed funder route. The KTP reflects the eligibility criteria. But I'll speak to my university to know what they think.

I guess yes, you can apply for endorsement vis UKRI if you meet following conditions:

1) The grant or award is worth a minimum of £30,000.
2) The grant or award covers a minimum period of 2 years.
3) Research grants must have been awarded for at least 24 months or more.
4) Researchers must have an employment contract or hosting agreement for 24 months or more.

Thank you
