How long post IHS top up being paid - Decision can be expected by

Post by wanderer05 » Tue Oct 18, 2022 3:46 pm

Hello,

After 3 months of no comms had received email from Home Office for IHS top up last week Friday which I paid in 30 mins post receiving the email.

Just wanted to gauge an idea from people in same situation previously had received a reply back from Home Office on the Decision.

Email states to pay difference by 26th October so is it post that only they would be re-looking into the application ?

Any idea anyone please?

Am on section 3C and is becoming difficult to find a job with no way to prove my right to work as employer's do not want to get into ECS checks and so on.

I am also wondering this, although hopefully it doesn’t go to the bottom of the pile and they should be reviewing immediately?

Nope, still waiting at the helm of Almighty Home Office to decide upon.

Really don't understand how it can be so slow. All they like is taking money and than dead silence from their end.

Thanks for the update. I received the same top up request yesterday (which is exactly the day of the 8 weeks SLA). Made top up payment within 30 mins. Hopefully doesn’t mean another 8 week wait…

Are you sure about this? In which case I assume this drags the total process by about a month.

Nothing as of yet. UKVI have updated processing time to 16 weeks on an average so we just need to hope it gets through the period.

That’s amazing. Seems like you got it just about a month after your IHS top up. Two more weeks to go for me (by that timeline) but of course anything can happen. All the best

Nothing yet. On the assumption it takes 1 month after top up that would be December 1st. Had booked flight tickets on December 2nd (way back) but can no longer risk it so I’ll have to postpone or change.

Just appalling service honestly. Did you upload evidence that you've made your top-up payment?

I did not get the option to do so, as it sent me an automatic email saying next steps are that the visa will be processed. However, let me check again

The email asked to upload your evidence by logging in to your application, at least for my wife's application. Although that hasn't made any difference to getting a decision on her application, yet.

That’s strange, mine didn’t request that, only mentioned that next steps would be that application will be processed. I assumed they get an automatic alert, similar to how the original payment is matched to your application. Thanks for the heads up and I’ll check the screenshots again.

Yes, checked again and there was no reference to upload evidence, either on the Home Office mail, IHS confirmation, or in the screenshot of the IHS top up confirmation I took. It has a line saying ‘What happens next? : Your visa application will be processed’.

Seems they are asking different things from different people. A total mess and very stressful

Very strange, indeed. The email from the Home Office mentioned that 'you need to log in to your application and upload your evidence.' I took a screen grab of the IHS webpage and uploaded that along with the IHS invoice. Hasn't helped, though. We're meant to fly out tomorrow and will now need to change our flights.

I'll lodge a formal review with the Ombudsman service against the UKVI's sloppiness in adhering to their service standards.

Yes, definitely no such reference in mine but since mine automatically said the application will be processed I guess the end result is the same whichever system email we got (seems there is more than one then).

I too shall look into the formal complaint mechanism, however much or little good it may do. It will at least help others avoid our situation.

Yeah - I hoped they would've used some sense and automatically process the application as soon the additional IHS payment goes through.

I'll lodge a review irrespective of when we get a decision. There needs to be some recourse to applicants against the UKVI's incompetence. Regardless of how swamped they are, they should've proactively updated their website so people would've applied accordingly. There's just no excuse to their ineptitude.

After a long and stressful wait, finally received a positive response today. Now need to hope the BRP will reach within the stipulated time so that I can fly out.

Congrats! Hopefully it comes on time. If not, you can still fly out and get someone to post your BRP to you prior to your return. Also, can apply for a replacement BRP visa which would be £154 and let you re-enter rather than spending more money to change your flights.
