New passport

Post by mugaley » Tue Mar 14, 2023 4:25 pm

Hello, I have Tier2 general visa and I got a new passport from my home country. I have a BRP. Do I need to contact UKVI about that?

Thanks but in some related posts, change of circumstances form is mentioned. Is it optional?

Change of circumstances for BRP holders includes:
- change of address
- change to your name or personal details:
name, for example if you’ve got married
nationality
facial appearance
date of birth, for example if it was wrong
gender
- other changes:
you get a criminal conviction
you separate from your partner
any of your children stop living permanently with you
Change of circumstances - BRP holders

In the MCC form, new passport details are included under Personal Details section (page 3). Do you think this is not mandatory?

That refers to changes of name or nationality on the passport, for that reason is within the 'Personal details' section. If these personal details (name or nationality) haven't changed, there is no need to do anything.

Are you sure? Because in MCC form it says that:

"If the applicant is in the United Kingdom in one of the categories listed above and their current grant of leave was made by means of a BRP, they should not use this form to notify us of any of the following changes to their circumstances:
• change of name
• change of date of birth
• change of nationality
• change of gender
• change of appearance

In these circumstances, the applicant must make an online application for a new BRP. You can find further information on how to do this on our website www.gov.uk/biometricresidence-permits/replace-visa-brp"

I think Personal Details section in the MCC form relates to changes other than those listed above. Am I wrong?
