PBS Dependant Extension

Post by sindhu19191 » Mon Nov 21, 2022 1:44 pm

HI All,

Applying for my spouse's PBS dependant extension. Found two different links from gov.uk and posts from this site, confused which one to use. Could anybody please confirm which link is right? We are looking to extend my spouse's visa for 3 more years as I have submitted my ILR application last week.

Link 1: Obtained from Skilled Worker page > Apply to extend
https://apply-to-visit-or-stay-in-the-u ... anner=true

Link 2: Found on some posts in this forum. Please note that few posts on this forum have link1 as the right link.

Both links are correct. The first one is what the UKVI website defaults to in an effort to make you use the app to enroll your biometrics. The second one is if you're unable to use the app.

Thank you! It's just confusing because the second link has a few additional questions like is the main applicant on ILR etc while the first one has limited questions.

Sorry one more question. My CoS was issued for 5 years which I have now almost completed and have applied for ILR. In depedant form, it asks for how long the CoS was issued - should this be 3 years as it will be a 3 year extension or 3+ years as my initial CoS was 5 years?

Yep, there's subtle differences between the two for reasons unknown to me.

However, considering the delays going on, I'd suggest you go through the second link. I applied for my wife's extension through the first link and it didn't give me an option to take the priority route and now it's been more than 10 weeks and we're still waiting for a decision.

Last I checked, priority is being offered if you enroll your biometrics through UKVCAS. At the very least, I would fill out both forms, enter a dummy IHS # and check if you can get priority through the first link. If so, go with the first one as it saves you money. Of course it doesn't matter if you're not in a rush.

You should answer retrospectively, i.e., five years. Worth checking the guidance, though.

Will it not be a problem if I submit the application? link 1 basically can't be submitted without confirmation of identity :O
