Skilled worker travel time

Post by Mamatha_aluka » Tue Jun 27, 2023 2:18 pm

Good Day,

I got a skilled worker visa, as per visa travel date is 21 June. And as per my certificate of sponsorship (COS) my work start date is 7th August.

Can I travel on 29th June? or is there any specific time period for travel (like 28 days or 15 days before work start date). I am in confusion state, can some one guide me.

Thanks in advance and looking for your answer.

Regards,

As part of the visa application you will be asked for your intended travel date to the UK. The visa will then be valid from that travel date, which can be a maximum of 14 days before the employment start date as declared on the CoS. You cannot enter the UK before the start date as recorded on your visa.

Hi All,

Thanks for your valuable reply.

So I checked with UKVI and they confirmed, I can travel anytime if you have valid visa to travel.

So traveled almost 32 days before my work start date. And I entered without any issues.

If in case any one have same issue the please take one confirmation email from UKVI and travel (for your immigration safety).

The revised sponsor's guidance considers that the employee can start working:
... as soon as they have permission to enter or stay in the UK, even if this is before the start date recorded on their CoS

See paragraph S3.9, page 24 - Sponsor guidance

I understand this was not possible in the past, but now it is - and no additional actions are required.
