IHS refund query

Post by Entreprenuersweare » Sat Sep 16, 2017 10:03 am

Hi all

I had a quick question about the IHS refund received from the Home Office.

My business partner has received a partial IHS refund and our application shows as decided on 12 September 2017; however, we have not received any further correspondence from the Home Office yet.

Having checked the guidance provided on the gov.uk website for refunds, it says the following.

5. Refunds

You don’t need to do anything to get an IHS refund - it’s automatically paid to the account or card you paid with.

You’ll get a full IHS refund if:

you paid twice
your visa application is refused
you withdraw your visa application

You’ll get a partial IHS refund if your visa application’s successful but:

you get less time on your visa than you asked for
any dependants on your visa application are refused
You won’t get a refund if:

your visa application is successful but you don’t come to the UK
you leave the UK before your visa ends, for example to make a new application
you’re told to leave the UK before your visa expires
you’re applying for indefinite leave to remain or changing to another visa where you don’t need to pay the IHS

Please can you share your thoughts about whether you can safely imply that receving a partial refund indicates that the application is succesful.

I will appreciate all your comments in relation to this topic.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

as mentioned by Zimba many times IHS refund doesn't mean anything and you must wait for the decision in post. It does take upto a week for the decision to arrive in post from the decision date. If you don't receive it within 10 days ( i believe) call the number provided on the website.

IHS Partial refund does not mean anything. so please do not assume a success. I have seen cases where it has been so and then still end up in a rejection. You are almost there no worries. Just wait and fin dout. I know how you feel although. I wish its a success for you :)

What are your timelines please.
