Hi

If I pay employees cash in hand rather than through bank, will that cause issues for ILR?

THANKS
Alfie

Almost certainly going to be an issue.
Where is the cash coming from and why would you pay cash to employees in any case, it is just not good practice.

It is not illegal to pay in cash nor is it a barrier to Tier 1 Ent rules but it will be difficult to justify that the full amount was paid simply because there is no bank to bank audit trail.

There is a wages scam for Tier 1 Ent that involves cash payment for wages / salaries - best that you avoid that scrutiny from the Home Office and / or HMRC

Dear moderators

I have asked the question before but i need to be extra sure as i have made a big investment into a company that renovates homes and businesses.

They do painting, plastering, toilets and Spam. They do not own any properties nor buy or sell properties.

Will this be accepted for my ILR extension?

everyone's advise is to stay away from properties.

please advise
thanks
alfie

Thank you for your reply

I have joined the business in Feb 2019. They have been in business for 3 years and mainly worked in renovations.

I have discovered that they rented rooms out to clients for a few months and that was over a year before I joined them .

At the moment their business is just serviced based renovations and construction.

Thanks

My understanding is that you count from date you became a director.

(h) if the business in (g) employed workers before you took over or joined it, you must also provide the following documents for the year immediately before you joined the business and the years that the jobs were created, showing the net increase in employment and signed and dated by you:

(i) duplicate Full Payment Submission sent under Real Time to HM Revenue & Customs, or
(ii) if the business started employing settled workers before reporting under Real Time, a form P35.
