T1 50 k initial interview ANSWERS

Post by Mehfuz » Mon Apr 29, 2019 9:07 pm

Hi all as mentioned earlier, i have applied for 50k vc T1 ent. Initial one..
I have searched for answers on100s of websites for few questions that they usually ask.
1. Why this Venture Capital firm?
2. Why UK?
3. Why partucular place at which business would be established?
4. Why go to UK now?
5. Have you looked for any other place than UK?
6.who helped you make a business plan?

These are questions that one can answer to both the ways.. not sure what to tell them to satisfy that u r genuine entrepreneur..

Any one here who have got Initial entry visa and have answered to these question??

It would be so nice if someone share their experience i answering these.. most of the successful applicants have put questions but if someone put answers than it would help anyone going for interview including myself..

Answers to these questions would be specific to you, your business and your circumstances.

There is no "template" or "one size fits all" answer to them or for questions on this particular visa route.

Hi
Thanks for a quick reply.

I understand that answers to these may be specific according to my business plan.
But it would be nice if any successful entrepreneur applicant brief their scenario (or even if he/she does not describe scenario), and give us a bit of understanding on how they tackled to these questions so we get understanding on how we would adjust according to our business plan.
For example why this Venture capital firm or why UK? These questions is general in most of the cases and i think the answers would differ much even though business plan may be different.

I hope u understand what i am trying to convey.

Again thanks for a quick response. I would really appreciate if you could help us in this

There is a really simple solution to your question - answer truthfully and shock and amazement you will not be trying to lie or maintain a falsehood. Guess what if you meet the requirements you will get a visa. It is that simple.

Trying to second guess your interview is a pointless waste of time, no two interviews are the same and the answers given in one does not mean that they are the acceptable answers for you.

If you have the funds, a properly presented business case and a knowledge of the area / sector you want to establish a business in then you will fly through the interview and wonder what all the fuss is about.

If any of the above is a fiction or suspect then it will be easily found out.

There are no tricky questions. The line of questioning follows a path from where the funds came from through to to your business plan and then onto your research and knowledge of the business you wish to undertake.

If you have the funds from your own savings or other credible sources there is nothing to worry about.

Your business plan - that has to be based around sensible and logical information and a realistically achievable set of figures. It is pointless saying you are going to have a fantastic turnover and mega profits within three years. Those kind of claims are treated with the laughable derision they deserve. This is where things will start to unravel when there are stupid projects and assumptions in the plan. The business plan is about setting realistic and achievable goals and how you intend to meet those goals. It is not a document that you will be held to in three years time. Saying your company is going to have a huge turnover and making massive profit does not make the business plan look attractive- it achieves quite the opposite.

The most awkward part is demonstrating your knowledge of the business sector you are intending to setup in. What research have you undertaken about the business in the UK, have you operated in this sector before, have you got facts and figures about the sector in the UK, what makes you want to pick the UK to setup in business, have you links to the UK, have you examined potential costs and most suitable geographical areas for your type of business.

The third part above probes your research and knowledge of what setting up in business in the UK is really about. Have you done your research, what did you find out, has that been reflected in the business plan and importantly it tests your credibility as a businessperson.

As the experts advised for these questions are True it is purely to check your entrepreneurship skills rather than to get the perfect answer from you.I have attended two interviews ( first one refused second one approved) so thought of sharing my experiences which may help you.

1. Why this Venture Capital firm? ( not asked in my interview)
2. Why UK? ( I said I see lot of recent scope in the UK for my business compared to other countries)
3. Why particular place at which business would be established?
( First interview I said I visit this place and choose because my friend got a office nearby. That was the main reason for the rejection in first time reason: lack of research, Second time I said it is near to Highway and few customer places close by and nearer to airport ).
4. Why go to UK now? ( I said I tried few countries and my policy is not to offer credit and I said not many customers in UK ask for credit and bad debit issues also less in UK compared to other countries).
5. Have you looked for any other place than UK? ( I said Yes and said I need to run by business with credit offer in USA and got lot of bad debits also).
6.who helped you make a business plan? ( I said a business consultant. The officer asked a drill down questions how long I know him and how does he know your business. I said all my ideas are mine and he helped me to present it British standard).

Let me know if you need any further information and all the best..
Matt.

Thanks matt!!
So helpful ur answers would be in my application.
To be honest, i run a travels agency in India. It has been 6 years and i handle 14 employees at the moment. My business plan is about travel cruise business which i will set up in UK. I already have 100s of clients because my current business is helping UK and UAE customers get their luggage safely from airport to their place in my district so that they can travel luggage free. I also provide bus travel if a customer opt for bus travel.
This current business has helped build a database of more than 1000 customer and i have good relation with them.
Most of my current customers are from Leicester that is the reason i have chosen Leicester as my would be business.
I have a good command over english as well as good rapo with my clients.
My business plan is made by the firm. But i do know everything about my business plan including financial and marketing.
I have done MBA and these skills would also help me set up my business in uk.
Would you think these explanations which i have giben above would satisfy officer?
Again I really appreciate ur feedback in above post.
Thank You

Looks everything good to me..
Look at these points..to make your interview stronger.
Demand existence & Competitor Analysis.. and what edge you have over them..??
If you try to show that you have very established business already without your valid visa/presence here the officer may think that your business is already good and there is no real need for you to stay here and maintain. ( This is what happened in my first refusal). you have to justify why you need to get this visa and why your business needs this visa and your stay in UK..? I hope you got my point. The business plan made by your firm and you know everything looks like you learned from it rather than you made it. The officer will ask you how do you get those estimated figures..??In my case I told that I have started few branches in the past and I derived the financial figures from my experiences. Finally your responsibility is not only in answering the questions clearly but you have to make sure the Interviewing officer entering it in the system properly which is beyond our limit. My first interview I requested and see my interview script so many answers were not properly entered and it causes the refusal easily. If you get video interview it is good actually you can see the officer and make sure they entered it or not and you can slow down your answering speed. Don't use "may be" because so many 'may be' entered in my interview transcript which looks weird when you read it.
How do you spend your 50K/200K is an important question to make sure your financial plans.
You know all the basic questions and ask someone to conduct a mock up interview ( Interviewer should have very basic knowledge not from any business ) and see how your answers are recorded which may help you to look your answers recorded by some one. In my experience, all the officers looks for a strong reason to refuse any application and if they don't find any strong reason they will to approve it. So try your best to not give a chance for the officer to pick a reason from your interview. If you need any help just follow Marcnath replies to my thread and all his related Tier 1 Post. I got my visa approved one and only by his kind suggestions/guidance. Thanks again Marcnath If you read this post :-)

In my opinion, interviews are optional. If your documentation is good there is every chance you will get the visa. In fact I think you have got the visa!

Hi desai.
I hope so .. i just had a chat with my solicitor who completed all the paperwork. He said the same thing. Interviews are optional. And they took 6 weeks to get it processed so there r chances that i will get the visa.

I want to know what cr001, mcnarth and Frontier has to say about this one.

From the information given and your knowledge of the business you want to undertake and you are already in that business sector I am optimistic that it will be a visa grant.

Good Luck

Hi Frontier!!!
Thanks for a reply. Hopefully I will find out on Friday as VFS will give file for dispatch today..

I am a bit worried because i have never heard of anyone who has been granted T1 initial visa without interview outside UK.

Lets hope they grant me Visa.
