Sorry, I am not clear what you meant by "check in UKVI application that I am required to do an appointment"?
If you go back to the visa application on the home office website it will say you need to book a bio-metrics appointment by a certain date and that takes you to the ukvcas website.

Since there is no way of knowing if the bio-metrics using the app is actually received by UKVI.

Hi,
The UKVI application says "enroll biometrics by 2 Sep 2020".

However, it is not live/updated information, i.e. there is no javascript running at the client side, pulling information from UKVI/UKVCAS servers to dynamically update the text to say that the biometrics are received etc.

If you view the source code of the html page, you can clearly see that, it is a mere static calculation adding 'X' days to the date of submission, and displaying that information inside a green-colored textbox.

In my case, I submitted online application on July 01. So it added 31 days excluding date of submission. This is just their pre-covid era standard, and UKVI themselves have replied to me confirming that I can ignore it. The 'Access UK' online form created by UKVI's IT contractors doesn't have special provisions for unexpected exigencies like pandemics or earthquakes or WW3.....It's just merely a static text displaying a standard deadline.

Check for yourself. It should be 33 days + date of your online application.

No issues. I already received my GTV visa. I had only self-uploaded the bio page. The UKVCAS staff at the appointment also scanned only the bio page.

It is only for ILR & naturalisation applications that you need to demonstrate that you have had continuous presence within the UK (barring absences of fewer than 540 days over a 5 year period), where the entry/exit stamps show your travel history.

The GTV visa is super flexible. There is no such presence limits either now or when applying towards ILR (as long as the travel is for field-work or other research activities in another country).

@krishnakumarg

After you submitted your application, did you get the standard mail which says, your application will be delayed more than 8 weeks due to covid?

@krishnakumarg Thanks yip i checked and that makes sense, so then it is the in-person biometrics that we have to say is the reason.

@nessyouuu just the passport page should be fine, however seems like no one for GT or other Tier's have got a decision using IDV. I will go and do an in-person bio-metrics tonight so then we will be able to ascertain if this hypothesis is indeed true.

Yup. but not will be, but may be. This is just a standard hand-waving disclaimer email everyone has got. See the ILR Covid19 biometrics forum.

I got this disclaimer email on July 07, 2020.

Stage 2 app submitted online on July 1st, 2020
RAE endorsed: Apr 16, 2020
IDV app biometrics submitted: Aug 28, 2020
Duplicated physical biometrics submitted: Aug 29, 2020
Decision received: Sep 07, 2020. Approved for global talent visa.

My case is very unique.

the above post was for my partner (wife). She is an professional artist - endorsed by The Art Council.

I have also been endorsed by Tech National in digital technology.

Both of us have been endorsed by different bodies for different filed. so we have applied separately for stage 2. :-)

So more evidence that those who do appointment over the app have got decisions. The cheapest in Birmingham is 135 gbp so im going to do that today. Already waiting 2 weeks now since i submitted on the app 26 August.

I stand corrected on the courier aspect. I got an email from UKVI with the Fedex tracking number for my BRP card. Since you also got your GTV approval email on 07 Sep 2020, I assume that you also have received this info.

What if I am not available when FedEx try to deliver?

The person to whom the biometric card has been issued does not need to be the person who receives the delivery.

If delivering to a home address FedEx are allowed to hand the package to someone who can prove their own identity with a passport, ID card or driving licence.

If delivering to a business address FedEx can also hand the package to someone who can show a photographic security pass for that business.

What if no-one can take delivery of my card?

FedEx will leave a calling card, and you should receive a “We missed you” message by SMS or email.

You can then use the FedEx tracking system to arrange a new delivery date. The process is explained at the question above “Can I change the day my card will be delivered?”

How many times will FedEx try to deliver my card?

They will make three attempts to deliver to the address above.

They will hold your card in their delivery network for 30 days. At any time during those 30 days you can contact FedEx to agree a delivery date that works for you.

If your card has not been delivered after 30 days FedEx will return it to UKVI. We will then try to contact you to find out why your card could not be delivered.

Ok so the IDV app is just a scam!!. I did IDV on 26 August, after waiting 2 weeks I went yesterday at 5 pm and did and in person appointment. Just got email now to say my visa is approved.
So if you have done the IDV, book and appointment and just redo it.
