T1 Global Talent (Technation) rejection

Post by happy143m » Fri Oct 16, 2020 8:49 pm

Guys,
I've seen this on another post while I couldnt add this to comments there, hence a fresh post.
My original application was on 4th August - rejection date 15th Sept.
Review application was submitted on 4th Oct - rejection / response date 14th Oct.

This happened with me - While my organisation is product led (one of it's businesses) the endorser actually looks at data from Wikipedia rather than looking at the about section from the Companies own website. (Wikipedia is an online free-content encyclopedia project helping to create a world in which everyone can freely share)

My original endorsement application recieved ""The applicant is clearly a talented technology professional, well respected by his peers. QC1 requires the applicant to evidence a significant contribution in a product-led digital technology company. Whilst the applicant's work has had impact, it is not part of a product-led company, Company ABC functions more like a consultancy, which is a specialism that is generally not considered suitable for this visa route. As this is the case, qualification for this criteria cannot be awarded and we cannot endorse this application."

The feedback I got from my endorsement review is as below "Company ABC is not a product-led technology company. It provides consulting and transformation and digital BPO services. While we agree that the applicant is not a consultant..." this is the defination that matches from Wikipedia. While our own website states we are "Company ABC is a consulting, digital services and software business" They seem to have gone back to my documents and now feel I do not need the KC2 criteria which contradicts the earlier statement.

Why are they preferring Wikipedia information, which in my belief is non-reliable? Is there a way one can change this perception or raise a concern with Home office or Technation?

I also need some guidance on the KC1 criteria. Got told that if one goes for it it needs something strong like a registered patent, is this true? Has anyone used Key Criteria 1 and got a sucessful endorsement?

Hi ,

Did you go through the technical route or Business route for the QC1.
How it is related to KC2 as both are different and why wanted to go for KC1 instead of KC2 which you had already showcased the evidence. They raised point against QC1 right

For QC1 - I was asked to pursue the Technical route, despite having a senior position as that was a stronger element in my profile.
ALso KC2 requires "Proof of recognition for work outside your immediate occupation that has contributed to the advancement of the sector (e.g. evidence that you have gone beyond your day to day profession to engage in an activity that contributes to the advancement of the sector)" My application was based on this. While I believe Mentoring within one's own company (irrrespective even if it's a subsidary or a different business unit) is not treated as going above and beyond your day-to-day responsibilities and contrubuting to the advancement of the sector you belong.

The point was raised for KC2. And I needed to understand if a patent is the only way to do KC1? what are the options and how can one show KC2 or KC1 sucessfully? Any suggestions or ideas?

My main application was rejected solely cause I worked for a non-product led organisation. While they felt that i clearly met the other criteria. Hence the failure in QC1.

When I requested for a review of my decission to be not endorsed, which is when they came back with "Key Criteria 2 requires the applicant to provide proof of recognition for work outside their immediate occupation that has contributed to the advancement of the sector--specifically evidence that they have gone beyond their day to day profession to engage in an activity that contributes to the advancement of the sector."

How can they look up to Wikipedia to decide what a company does and not? I have clearly provided evidences to show how our products are influencing the UK. Ofcourse with links to my own companies about section, clearly showing that it has a good footing in the Digital technology sector. "
Please find below your endorsement review decision letter relating to your application for a Global Talent Endorsement Review. You will not receive a separate letter.

"Company ABC is not a product-led technology company. It provides consulting and transformation and digital BPO services. While we agree that the applicant is not a consultant, the majority of his work involves either the implementation or integration of services and/or networks."

Sorry to ask further questions.

What are the evidences have you provided for QC1 and KC2.
For QC1 did you showcase you are developer or lead developers providing idea
How many example did you show for QC1
How many Example did you show for KC2.

Is it ok if I request you post complete review comments as it appears from the post that they have objection for QC1 fornot meeting Product led digital company

I would have like to do this more 1-2-1, rather than on an open forum. Not sure how I can.

You can't. Members are not permitted to post any form of contact information.

If you need professional assistance, I suggest your find an OISC advisor or lawyer to help you.

As per the forum rule, 1-2-1 is not permissible.

As I am preparing for mine I can help you with what I have learned.

1. For QC1, I am not sure what you have provided evidence. Maybe I would suggest you can showcase the technical impact of your contribution, Describe your contributions through Architecture Diagram, Github Commits, or Code Snippets(Lines Of Code) or how you provided the idea and lead the team. Please mention you are a Contractor to your Client that mentioning you are an employee of your company and your client is your client. In this way, it would not appear you are not part of a Consulting company.
eg. You are employed at ABC which is as per Wiki is Consulting Company and XYZ is your client.
As you always are a contractor to XYZ in your letter you can showcase you are a contractor to XYZ who wanted Bla- bla-bla digitalization. And then how you contributed it.
Please try to provide more than one example of your contributions to different digital products or services.

2. For KC2, don't just rely on Mentoring. Please try to provide more than one evidence

like a. stack overflow profile
b.Github profile
c. YouTube Video of your mentoring or Tech conference where you are a speaker
d. White Paper, Technical Article

But again as I said I also preparing for my application, hence I would say I am an expert on this. This what I understood from Technation Guidelines or asking questions in this forum.

I would suggest please contact an immigration advisor. But be careful, People charge a lot of money 1000 GBP to 10000 GBP. So be aware of it.

Thanks

Thanks, I'm aware we cannot do 1-2-1. Just didn't want to share anything on a public forum.

This is solid. Thanks for your inputs. My problem is that I'm from a infrastructure background, and not a developer. Hence the challenge in demonstration of codes etc.

What background are you from? Can you give me a high-level of what documents you are preparing as evidence?
Like eg: recommendation letter from CXO of a company or Award by Pm. Anything that can give me an idea of what I can substitute within my world.

Hi Happy123

how did you go about the review feedback ? I got almost the same feedback and language on QC1 and I am planning to submit review in a week or so. saying a company is not a product-led is not a right logic - i know folks, who are already approved GT visa and are working at my current employer - so this is a weird logic

Any input based on your experience will be immensely helpful. Thanks

Hi,
I am new to this Forum. I have some doubts for UK Global Talent Visa Stage-1 submission.
I am looking for support from all the members who has submitted Exceptional Talent visa.

What are the evidences have you provided.
I have only 2 LRs and I am going to submit the same to Technation. Is that sufficient?
Also let me know if you have submitted a Cover Letter.
I do not have any letter of support/references from any of my senior colleagues/employers.
Please let me know how much chances are there to get success.

Regards,
Balu

Hi Balu
Suggest you go through the Tech Nation website: https://technation.io/visa-tech-nation-visa-guide/ where at least 3 of the above queries will be easily answered. Anyway, I try and answer these for you here.
1. Evidences are subjective - they depend on the criteria you select. On the Tech Nation guidelines, the possible evidence-types are listed against each criteria. See what fits your story best?
2. For the application you will have to provide "Three letters of recommendation from three different well-established organisations acknowledged as experts in the digital technology field". This is NOT optional
3. Cover letter - I did not provide a cover-letter. However the Tech nation guide clarifies this point as well through this : "You must use the Tech Nation application form to state which of your supporting documents relate to your chosen Eligibility Criteria. If you choose to provide this information in the form of a cover letter you will need to upload it as one of your ten supporting documents"
4. Most of the criteria need evidence that you meet them. Typically, support letters from senior colleagues / employers / clients etc. are a good way of showing that you do. This is of course not mandatory, provided you can evidence the chosen criteria in another way.
Finally, each application is unique and very subjective. It is almost impossible for someone to tell you of your chances of success. I recommend you extensively research, submit the strongest possible application and find out what Tech Nation has to say about it.
Best Wishes
D

Thank you very much D for your reply..

But in another case, one of my friend is a Data Scientist. He studied in UK and worked in UK-Part time. He has lots of publications, he published a book on Data Science. He wrote lot of articles on AI & ML. He has more than 10 documents which is difficult for him how to send all the documents to Tech Nation.

We appreciate your inputs on this please..

Balu
