Tier.1 Exceptional Talent (Tech Visas)

Post by dxbtouk » Tue Mar 04, 2014 8:04 pm

Hi Friends , lets welcome the Tier.1( Exceptional Talent ) Tech visa thats going to be launched in the month of April 2014 . It is especially useful for the people working in IT . I am a IT contractor myself and i would like to switch from my current Dependant visa to the new visa . I would really appreciate if we can actually discuss about this visa . Criteria's and Eligibility . Hopefully i personally think they wouldn't ask for some PhD's here . Please share the information that you have with us . Thanks.

Yes, After a long wait ever since Tier 1 was closed there is something called Tech Visas. Hopefully the criteria is not very stringent.

Hello I just looked this up on the internet, I don't think there is any detailed information yet, but with the little info I saw, I don't think it will be any easier than its predecessor-exceptional talent.

Guidelines say 'exceptional talented' and 'internationally recognised' so that's 99% of the people on here out of the running lol!!

It has now emerged that there will be a cap of 200 on the number of IT workers who will be able to get these visas each year.

If that is the case then lots of IT people who are eagerly waiting for this VISA will be extremely disappointed :(

Guys , think we need to be patient till the actual release comes out . Am in Contracting market in IT and i know without visa flexibility these days its hard to find clients that can accept us on our current visas . Fingers crossed . Lets wait . Any other experiences from you will be appreciated . I contacted Tech IT but no response from them on this .

Please note the despite these new plans, anything coming under the Tier 1 and "exceptional talent" route will not be straight-forward as the previous point-based qualification routes. I applied for a Tier 1 Exceptional Talent visa in early Dec 2013. UKVI is not giving any updates on that apart from disclosing that no decision has been taken on that application despite the 4th month of application. So, TBH, I don't think even if this new visa category is launched, it would be of much help to the wider and "exceptionally promising" IT candidates unless the government genuinely wants to improve on processing times and qualifying criteria as well.

Friends,
Can we please discuss on the eligibility criteria for Tech Visa. Experts please shed some light on this , especially on how it is going to benefit for IT employees who doesn't hold Ph.D; just have an Engineering degree's and has atleast 1 yr of UK exp.

I would like to stress more on below points :

Also, If an employee has a 1 year of UK experience through Tier 2 ICT and had returned to his/her home country in less than a year, can he/she will be eligible to apply ? Also, I assume that if the same employee can get the endorsement from those people with whom he/she worked in the UK, will that be sufficient ? especially, what are proof of evidence required to submit by an IT employee.

Please share your views.

Thanks.

Endorsement will be done through Tech City for IT guys and it will be hard and not every one will get it 200 visa per year only. There are people with 8-9 years of experience with CCIE , CISSP and much more things now it depends on Tech city whom they think is exceptionally talented and then to home office to accept and issue visa.

Would like to thank everyone reading this post and updating these blogs with own interest to help others. The result is my very first visa as an Exceptional Talent in Digital Technology!

Answer to the question of Bmunirat on Fri May 02, 2014 10:32 am: YES

Answer to the inputs of sindhoo on Mon Apr 07, 2014 8:58 am: My profile is just 5.5 years experience in IT.(But author of 2 best selling books, 14 International Certifications, 8 International Research Papers, 4 Awards (approximately) and dual Masters finally-Technical Master from Rank 9 Institute of India;Management Master: Rank19 Institute of India)

Answer to the inputs of Bmunirat on Mon Apr 07, 2014 4:57 am:
On Eligibility Criteria:
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... ment-2.pdf

On Tier 2 ICT related point (This document has been updated exceptionally every 10 days once!! Latest updated date 01 Aug and I was 2 days late to read the changes):
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... nal-talent

Answer to the inputs of YFHampshire on Thu Apr 03, 2014 4:05 pm: It is a straight forward visa (of Digital Technology Stream). No doubt!

Answer to the inputs of Wanderer on Mon Mar 24, 2014 11:41 am: Absolutely True! It took 76 Days(Stage1-Rejection[24 days]-->Stage1-Appeal[26 days]-->Stage2-Application Process[26days]) for me to take risk and get it successfully!

I have been reading this blog right from Feb 2014 and it gave me up-to-date information (but nothing on Exceptional Talent Visa). With this single answer I would help fellow exceptional talents.Cheers!!

Hi popeyethesailor,
Thanks for the helpful information.

I've recently applied but my application got rejected. I've 12 years of experience, also have a PhD from one of the top universities in the UK, several award winning products, 3 international publications, recommendation from a board member of well-established UK IT company, proof of being recognised by the technology leaders in my field.

I am thinking to file a review (appeal). Just wonder, how did you do yours? have you done it via a solicitor?
Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks

To ehab on 'Wed Aug 13, 2014 5:56 pm':
Hi,
'how did you do yours?':
1.Analysed on the mandatory and qualifying criteria+Rejection Reasons
2. Rejection Reasons are listed/split as separate components
3. Each component is justified with valid classifications (Referring existing proofs provided and 'not providing' any new reference documents. Reason: Any new document reference result in fresh Stage1 Process)
4. Digital Signature of the appeal document and submitted within a week.

'Have you done it via a solicitor?':
Stage1: No
Stage2: Yes

All the best! Please let me know if you want it to be reviewed-Happy to help!

Hi popeyethesailor,
Thanks again for the helpful information.
Just a couple of more questions if you don't mind.
Did the solicitor send the review form on your behalf (as your legal representative)?
I am thinking to use a solicitor as well, can you recommend a good one?, possibly the same solicitor who helped you.

Guys , as the person that started this discussion a while ago i need the help from you guys please regarding this Tech visa . I have some good experience around 5 years as a Business Analyst and currently i work for some market leading clients . Its again pain in the *** to get contracts with the current visas as there are too many hassles and i know all the HSMP's / Tier.1 ( General's ) have been taken by most of the taxi drivers and or takeaway guys that are on streets and there isn't a visa for the needy people that are worth and are in demand in UK's IT market.
I hope we can all share the knowledge and the ways to get this visa . Can the guys that have got the visas please let us know the procedures that you have followed . I have my Masters degree from one of the reputable universities in UK . Please PM me in case someone is interested for a discussion or a conversation around this . We can actually get this visa but the only thing is need to know the best possible procedure without any rejection .Hope to hear from someone soon . Thanks .

Why don't you try as an Exceptional Promise, instead?

Check this new guidance before proceeding https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... 1_2017.pdf

Ps feel free to PM if you need any further advice.

pss they have doubled the number of Tier 1 grants to 2000 on 24 November 2017.

Hey, have you now applied for review? How did it go?

When my endorsement got denied, I applied afresh instead of applying for review because it takes more time . Maybe this post of mine might help you. "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" personal blog weblink removed by moderator
