Hi, Just as a note, some debit cards have a daily transaction limit of INR 25K only. If that is the case with your card, the payment might not go through. It happened for a friend of mine and his form was sent back. He had to re send it with credit card payment mode.

Cheers

Hello Shakirpa,
Just call up the customer support section of your bank and enquire about the transaction limit of your card. They will be able to tell you this. Did you try it out? What did they say?

Cheers

Today, I got my approval by airmail.
Thanks a ton for this forum.

Application sent by dhl to UK: 18 Nov 2007
Application reached home office: 20 Nov 2007
Credit card debited on: 21 Nov 2007
Got approval: 29 Nov 2007

Ppl, I was planning to arrange for courier. To my suprise, I didnt get any reference number by email. When I called them on Nov 26, they told me that the application has reached them and a decision is yet to be made.
But suprisingly, I got my approval on 29th. Thank god that the documents reached safely.

So ppl who are planning to arrange for courier must be cautious.
Fax them as soon as your application reaches.

thanks,
Ed

Approved

Post by maverick18 » Sun Dec 02, 2007 6:00 pm

I received the approval letter along with all the documents back on 01 Dec. I was an out-of-country applicant(India) and my case was a straight forward one (salaried-employement).

Points claimed:
Age Assessment: 20
Qualifications: 30
Previous Earnings: 45
Total points claimed: 95

Here are my complete timelines:

Application sent by Fedex: 14 Nov 2007
Received at HO: 16 Nov 2007
CC charged: 16 Nov 2007.
Received reference number: 19 Nov 2007 (No mail sent. I called them and got it.)
Approval Letter Dated: 20 Nov 2007
Documents dispatched from Home Office: 23 Nov 2007
Documents received through Airmail: 01 Dec 2007

This forum has been a great source of reference and support for me specially when none of the people I know applied for HSMP through the new rules. I'd like to thank one and all for your contributions which has benefited many applying for HSMP like me. Thanks a lot and lets keep the ball rolling.

Thanks,

These are the timelines of the application that a friend submitted.

Out of country applicant.
Application sent: 20-Nov.
Application received: 22-Nov
Fee deducted: 23-Nov
Approval Date: 26-Nov
Received letter & documents: 03-Dec.

Important suggestion: If you wish to receive your documents by courier and have made arrangements to do so, please do not wait to receive the reference number before sending them the fax to request for courier pickup. Send the fax as soon as you have confirmation that your application has been received at HSMP office.

Hi friends,

I am planning to apply for EC in december. I look forward to putting my wife's application along with mine. Does she need to fill a seperate Visa (EC) application form. If yes, which one?

Thanks,
CD

Used Debit card for HSMP application

Post by parry2204 » Tue Dec 04, 2007 7:02 am

Hi,

I have applied for HSMP last week and used ICICI debit card (VISA, International), but after enquiring through mail, I have found that the payment of 400 pounds is being declined by issuer.

May I know, if I use ICICI credit card, will it work (Though I don't have it, But I will get it made just for HSMP only).
I mean will there be any limits on payment through credit card also. As in case of debit card I feel the problem would have occured due to limit.

Also, If I want to go for UK postal order mode, then May I know from where I can get this postal order for UK made in India.

Thanks a lot in anticipation.

Regards,
parry

Hi Parry,

Just go to any nationalized bank, and get a demand draft for 400GBP. You do not have to get a UK postal order specifically.

Be informed though that the DD takes a week to clear, so the decision on your application will be delayed accordingly.

If you have some friend with an international credit card, you can try that.

My advice however, would be to go with the DD as it safe and guaranteed to work.

Cheers

Hello Parry,

There are transaction limits for every card.
When you give your Credit card details, make sure that the transaction limit is above the fee amount.
Otherwise home office will send back the documents to you.

If you wish to read the details, you can see the link
http://ec-hsmp.blogspot.com/2007/11/hsm ... n-fee.html

Different methods of fee payment are also explained there in this link.

Cheers

Regarding HSMP Initial application payment

Post by parry2204 » Tue Dec 04, 2007 7:32 am

Hi hsmppune,

thanks for the kind reply.

I checked with HSMP support team reagrding payments and found that only 3 modes are acceptable to them-

-----------------Reply from HSMP support team-------------------
Payment can be made by:

Cheques drawn in sterling on a UK bank account;

UK postal order; or

Credit or debit card.

Payment by any other method will not be accepted.

If the payment submitted does not cover the total cost of the application (£400), it will not be possible to consider the application. We will return it to you without consideration including the part payment.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, as you said that demand draft will work. Can you be please sure as I am going to get it made either today or tommorow.

Any information on postal order. From where I can get it?

parry

hi Parry,

I do not have information about postal order.

But I can tell you for sure regarding demand draft. I myself paid through it and got approval.

You can get it made in State Bank of India Forex Branch. Enquire at any SBI branch to find out the Forex branch in your city.
