the timeline varies depending on the complexity of your case, your application, and the caseworker you get. 25 days- not too bad, shes lucky.

it has been 6 months!

Application made: end march
Urgent case request made: 26 Aug
Out of country application

it has been almost 6 months, and the home office still saying that they are processing my application. I found a very good job in London, and submitted an urgent case, I hired a professionaly agency: workpermit.com to process the whole case, and they told me my case is very good, and will get a positive decision. It seems that workpermit.com is not very useful, since they told me to call the HSMP number in Home office directly.

What I should do in the case like this? any help?

I have already e-mailed the HSMP team in UK home office, get nothing back from them!

Also think about new people joining the team....

Hi Guys,

Wud really apprci8 if some info / process and policy on HSMP can also be shared here. This will help the new guys who join your team in search for the informations.

No hard feelings, but right now it seems as if we are discussing only our own problems.

Can someone who has already passed HSMP and is about to fly to UK or now is in UK on HSMP, put in his experience over here? Please put in the steps involved step by step. Like how you started this, then what happened, then what you did, then what you were asked and then what you did to that and so on.

Looking forward for some initiative from old members ASAP.
Thanks: Ravi

Applied from US.
CC charged and reference number given around May 11th.
Contacted HO: My application seems to be currently waiting to be assigned to case worker and it could happen anytime in the next 4-5 days, I am told.
If the above is true, then a decision should be made by the end of next week (5th week) - in line with their claims.

I suspect that they keep the average turn around time low by deciding applications from within the UK (people already in the UK with jobs).

Let's hope for the best.

hi all,

I sent my application on 2nd july, received confirmation from royal mail on 4th july, received payment confirmation on 15th july dated 13th july, i called up after a couple of days to HO to enquire aboout the status, they told there is a delay in the processing and it should take a couple of weeks to make a decision, but to my luck, i received my passports back with 4 yr extension on 21st july, usually it takes a week after ur payment has been deducted to approve.

Best of luck

Do you need to have a job offer or interview invitation while filling the application for HSMP?

How do you prove that you can get job in UK?

I am a Software Developer in NY. Please advise

Hi pritamr,

It's not important to have job offer or interview invitation.
Just search in job sites print out the result and say them thay they are 1000s job for you.
Good luck.

Has anybody tried and got points for Senior level experience? Can you please share your experiences in this regard.
I am planning to apply and my points are on the borderline...so getting these points is critical..

Thanks.
I was successful with points for snr experience. Got 50 points for 10 years exp, 5 years senior exp. I was the owner of a business for 6 years. That was acceptable, but only after they rejected my first application. Had to sent mountains of paperwork to back up my claim.

In general I think its hard to prove, you need to be owner, executive or general manager or something pretty senior in your company.

Read the guidance notes, its pretty clear what is senior level experience.

Applied on 23rd August (ONE day before my 28th birthday)

Heard from them on 25th September (Just under 5 weeks)

Application got refused, not awarded claimed 35 points for Work Experience and SALARY coz:

1) they were not satisfied that my work as a GRAPHIC DESIGNER was graduate level WORK. i was not employed by some big company, just a small agency.

2) showed salary records for Nov 2002 - Nov 2003 coz i have been in the UK since Dec 2003 as:

STUDENT - Jan/Dec 2004
WORKING HOLIDAY - FEB 2005-2007 (4 months left)

they said that unless u have been studying fulltime since jan 2004 till now, those records wont count. they accepted my course cert as proof till dec 2004 but beyond that i didnt have any other fulltime study proof..

may apply again with modified set of exhaustive documents. do share your comments and opinions or if u wish to have any more information in order to assist me!

thanks!

Hello dd,

Very sad to know about your refusal. I am unable to understand what the HO people are doing.

My application reached there on 04th September and I got the refusal on 04th October and they did not awarded me points on my Past Earning. They calculated my Past Earning on Net Salary instead of Gross Salary. I have applied for review and my review application reached there on 11th October. So pl pray for me.

You should apply for review within 28 days of decision letter date. Prepare comprehensive reply stating the reason that it is your graduate level job and also that you people are living together for last years. Best of luck for review. If you need any help then I will be always available for that.

Best of luck.

Any valuable suggestions? Please help

Post by sach1636 » Thu Nov 09, 2006 11:32 pm

hi,

I came across this forum recently

I am an IT professional with more than 7 years of experience.

My case was rejected twice by Home office on experience letter format. Once of the reasons I wanted to post here was may be some one will benefit from my experience (I am still not able to understand my mistakes though)

I had claimed 35 points under experience as I had 5 years+ graduate experience and two years as a manager in large top 5 MNC.

I had submitted following evidence,

-Experience letter from latest organization detailing my roles and responsibilities
-Organizational chart
-Org chart of present assignment overseas
-Appointment letter
-Increment letters
-Detail breakdown of my present duties and to whom I report
-Apart from above I had submitted appointment, experience & service letters, org chart with my roles and responsibility letters from my previous employers

My first application was rejected as experience letters did not have duties and responsibilities :(

Today I received my second rejection letter saying we did not consider evidence you provided.

It is so agonizing considering the high cost of application and the time one wastes. I had also given offer letter from my new UK employer which had salary at a very top bracket at my level.

Despite all this I had received negative response which made me wonder 'Are they genuinely interested in candidates who want to contribute to their society and what significance they give to applications. I feel I am robbed. At the cost of expenses some family in poor country would have survived for almost entire year.'

Despite all this I want to submit request for review letter, I do not want to loose my hard earned money without reason.

I request you my friends to please suggest what I should include in my review letter. All help is highly appreciated.

exactly...as Rog suggested in one of the links..it appears fake documents work better because of less documentation.. we provide more genuine documentation with lot of details and simply they reject...because..bottomline appears to be sleek documentation.. i sometimes get the feeling that caseworkers have target number of cases to be completed weekly or monthly..

Hi,

I was refused 28 sept 2006 and my application was received 19 sept. seems like no one bothered to look at my application, just decided to stamp refused cos it means my application was assess under 10days.

Got refused cos they didnt believe my previous work experience (5 yrs) was graduate level (both home country and in the UK).

Sent my appeal since oct. and havent heard anything since. With the new rules, i score 90 Points as to the 65 Points under the old rule if they gave me points for my work experience (Good it's been scrapped under the new rule).

Have you heard anythin from them since u sent ur appeal? My solicitor in UK is chasing this up for me but thinking, is it worth me sending them an email as well maybe to speed the appeal up.

Also looks like they dont like us we IT guys.....Had a good job working for the 3rd biggest IT company in the world but still i was refused. Just seems like those caseworkers have no clue has to wot they are doing
thanks

skilachi,
I was in exactly the same situation as you are in. I claimed 25 points for more than 5 years work experience, out of which 4 years was in the UK with a well known corporate, still they refused(in august) it saying the ref letters are not detailed enough for them to judge my experience.
I appealed against it with a long letter explaining each point mentioned in my ref letters in detail and claiming that one should have sufficient understanding of the business I am in, to understand what my work experience means and letters are detailed enough for someone with right knowledge about my business ( mainly IT ) to judge my experience.

My appeal was approved in the first week of December.

Wilsh you good luck with your appeal.

Hi bilalsab,

Good to hear you appeal was approved.....i'm hoping mine too will be approved cos its taken them a long time and the longer i stay out of the UK, i would have been out for more than 3months, which will rule me out for my 10yrs legal stay in 2008. Although i've got a student visa to return in feb 2007, which is too far away right now as i need to be back in UK latest jan.
