be happy if they delay applications to your visa.. with 3.4 million out of work in the UK the later you have to find a job here, the better...

atleast you wont have to return back empty handed... if you have a nice job stay with it... today Gordon Brown's policy on RBS rescue is being criticised as well... wonder what will turn this economy up.

People in the US are optimistic about late 2009 pickup... but britain seems worst affected by recession... cost of food, rentals, energy, fuel - with prices deflating these dont seem to come down at all....

From which visa you are switching to Tier general? Student, work permit or IGS/PSW?

I applied from london for Tier 1 on 17-nov-08. Received acknowledgement & fee receipt on 25-nov-08. Havent heard anything since then either. I am switching from student. Does that make a lot of difference to time scales?

Just rang them up and they said 'its under further consideration'. Does anybody know what is exactly meant by that? Is that a second stage when 'initial consideration' fails?

Why didn't you ask them what 'its under further consideration' means?

Sorry, I can't answer your question about the different stages of processing, but would you mind telling me how you found out what the status of your application is? If it was by calling UKBA, how were you able to get a response (I was told that my application had not been received within 6 weeks, therefore they weren't able to give me any information about it)?

Many thanks in advance!

Application received by UKBA: 24 December
Payment taken: 29 December
